  Introduction:

The Amiga 500 must be one of the coolest personal computers ever made.

It was one of the first to include a graphical interface and a command line interface aswell. It also had superior graphics compared to most computers at that time, could do 32 colors in the lower resolutions and 16 colors on the higher resolution chosen from a 4096 color palette.

It also had a special color feature where you could get 64 colors that actually were two tables with 32 colors in each, where one was the copy of the other only darker. The Amiga 500 could also do 4096 colors using the Hold and Modify mode wich was very complicated to use wich was the reason why it was almost never used in anything but stills.

The sound of the Amiga 500 was also very good, with 4 digital channels it was more then most soundcards for the PC have. It had two stereo outputs so in a way it was one of the first to produce true stereo sound. The machine itself was very powerfull back when it was first released.

The Amiga 500 was aimed at home use and is surely one of Commodore's best achievements.
